#R3COMM3ND3D2018 with #BookBlogger Eva Merckx (@noveldeelights) #NovelDeelights

Good morning bookish friends. I am delighted to welcome you to the blog today and to Monday’s #R3COMM3ND3D2018. Today’s guest is one of my very favourite people in the book world, the fabulous Eva Merckx of Novel Deelights. (Although she does push me to my limits by frequently trying to break the rules of #R3COMM3ND3D, and then changes her three choices on an almost daily basis (I exaggerate!). I’m sure she won’t mind me telling you this as she seems rather proud of herself, lol! Oh, and let’s not forget the squirrels…but that’s a story for another day!)

I digress. If you haven’t seen any of my #R3COMM3ND3D2018 posts before (where have you been for the last few days…?!) then let me explain. #R3COMM3ND3D2018 is where I invite book bloggers, authors and publishing folk to recommend three must read books. The only stipulation being that the books must have been published in 2018. Easy right? Apparently not, for some…..

Here are Eva’s final (can’t-be-changed-anymore) choices…

the seven deaths of evelyn hardcastle.jpg

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
Agatha Christie on crack! What’s not to like? Fabulously original, brilliantly written and utterly genius. A wicked and deliciously weird tale.

The Craftsman by Sharon Bolton
Sharon is one of my go-to authors but this book?! Bloody hell! It is original, creepy, chilling and immensely addictive.

the murder of harriet monckton.jpg

The Murder of Harriet Monckton by Elizabeth Haynes
Historical crime fiction inspired by true events with an exquisite Victorian era atmosphere and brilliant writing that just made me fall in love with books all over again.

Fantastic choices, Eva (even if it took us a while to get there 😉).  I also loved The Seven Deaths… and there’s a pretty strong chance The Craftsman will be featuring on my ‘top books of the year’ list in December.  I’ve also added The Murder of Harriet Monckton to my burgeoning wishlist!

About Eva:
I’m Eva, 40 something bookworm living in Belgium. I love books, boots and wine, though not necessarily in that order and I dream of living in beautiful Tuscany some day.

  1. A daily basis? That’s a HUGE exaggeration! However, in my defense, I did warn you because it was so early in the year. 😜

And I still think honourable mentions should totally be allowed 😉😂

Thanks for having me on your blog, lovely! Squirrels will make an appearance later 😉❤️

  2. I’m slowly making inroads in my TBR towards The Craftsman, I’ve read such good things about it. I do enjoy historical crime fiction too…..

  3. Evelyn Hardcastle is definitely my number one read this year until now (and it will be hard for another story to beat that), but I really need to get a copy of The Craftsman ASAP so I can try and get another new favorite. 😉
