I keep hearing good things about The Lingering. Great title! My favourite spooky book is The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters. The ghostliness creeps up on you.

Ooh, choosing one favourite is hard, but I recently read The Haunting of Hill House (Shirley Jackson) and loved it; as well as The Silent Companions (Laura Purcell) – so they are two of my ‘current’ favourites, anyway!

Lingering sounds like a fantastic read! The Shining by Stephen King is the first spooky read that pops in my mind, although Hannah of Baby Teeth (Zoje Stage) seriously creeped me out recently as well.
