Hello and happy weekend! I hope you have some bookish plans in store. I am delighted to welcome you to damppebbles today and to another brilliant #R3COMM3ND3D2019 post. Today I am joined by the lovely Jessica Johnson who blogs over at Jessica’s Reading Room. If you haven’t discovered Jessica’s blog yet then I suggest you head straight on over and say ‘hi’!

So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2019? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors and book bloggers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2019. To make things interesting I have added a couple of teeny, tiny rules this year which are; 1) the book must have first been published in 2019 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes 😉.

Here are the three books Jessica recommends…

Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center
This novel is about a female firefighter and has a bit of everything you could want in it: romance, mystery, action, and yes, we do get a fire! Having spent a little bit of time in a firehouse myself, this novel portrays life in the firehouse via Center’s volunteer firefighter husband.

The Farm by Joanne Ramos
This is a novel that leaves you thinking how far away is our society from actually having ‘farms’. This novel tackles the differences in race, immigration status, lack of freedom, morality and greed among the many topics addressed.

Hope and Other Punch Lines by Julie Buxbaum
A fictional story based on a true event, Hope and Other Punch Lines is a book that everyone should read. Whether you have memories of 9/11 (near or far away) or you are learning of it in the more recent history books, Hope gives both perspectives on this world changing event and its aftermath.
