#TopTenTuesday | 4th February 2025: 2024 Releases I Was Excited to Read but Still Haven’t Gotten To #Top10Tuesday #bookblogger #bookish #amreading #TTT #BookTwitter #booktwt #BookX #BookSky #damppebbles

Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at dp. My original plan was to participate as and when I had the time to put a post together. That then turned into posting ‘weekly without fail’ until I was forced to take a break following surgery to both shoulders (that recovery happened to coincide with a complete and utter loss of reading and blogging mojo 🤷🏻‍♀️). But now I’m back and I’m going to take a much more chilled approach to all things bookish. Which means TTT will return to being a regular feature on damppebbles but a ‘no pressure’ one (that’s the plan anyway!).

The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.

This week’s theme is 2024 Releases I Was Excited to Read but Still Haven’t Gotten To. I’m honestly not too sure how I’m going to manage with this one. A couple of titles I remember being really excited about from last year spring to mind, but the whole unplanned hiatus thing meant I didn’t get half as much reading done as I had hoped. But that’s two, maybe three at the most, surely….? Still, we’ll give it a shot and see how it turns out.

1. Butter by Asako Yuzuki
My son gave me this book and I feel guilty every single day that I haven’t read it yet. It was such a popular book for a long time and I am still really keen to read it. I just can’t seem to squeeze it in to my reading schedule at the moment.

2. One of the Good Guys by Araminta Hall
This was everywhere last year and oh my gosh, my FOMO well and truly kicked in! Have I read it? Of course not.

3. The Hitchcock Hotel by Stephanie Wrobel
I’ve loved some of Wrobel’s books, I’ve not been so keen on others. I love the title of this one though, which my lovely husband gifted me. To be read soon, I hope!

4. Nightwatching by Tracy Sierra
Have I read it? No, I haven’t.

5. The Examiner by Janice Hallett
Cue large amounts of blogger guilt! I LIVE for Janice Hallett’s books. There were two proofs I really, really, REALLY wanted in 2024 – this and Chris Whitaker’s new book. Amazingly, I was gifted both! …..And I failed to read and review both in time. But The Examiner is set to be published in paperback in May, with this snazzy new cover, so I will endeavour to review for then instead.

6. West Heart Kill by Dann McDorman
I’ve heard some interesting, quite intriguing things about this book so I was desperate to check it out. On the ‘to be read’ list for 2025, that’s for sure!

7. The Escape Room by L.D. Smithson
This is another gift from my children and one I’m very keen to read. I mean…Eight Contestants. One Killer. Are you ready to play? It’s like it was written especially for me!

8. The Narrows by Ronald Malfi
I’m a HUGE Ronald Malfi fan but was completely unaware this book was being published last year. My lovely husband bought me a copy to cheer me up. MUST read it soon!

9. The Ice Retreat by Ruth Kelly
I treated myself to this one. It was only published in November 2024 so perfectly reasonable that I haven’t read it yet, right?!

10. Love Kills by David Jackson
OMG! How could I have forgotten this one?? DS Nathan Cody is BACK! One of my favourite detective series and I didn’t even realise until it was probably too late! Stupidly excited for this one.

That wasn’t too bad after all. I did start to struggle towards the end but that was when I turned to my trusty Kindle shelf and found the final two books! All books I am ridiculously excited to read, I just haven’t gotten around to them yet (#bookbloggerproblems).

Have you read any of these books? Are there any on my list that take your fancy? What 2024 book were you giddy with excitement to read but it still sits forlornly on your shelf (physical shelf or digital)? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.

So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!
