#TopTenTuesday | 25th March 2025: My Mum’s Ten Favourite Books #Top10Tuesday #bookblogger #bookish #amreading #TTT #BookTwitter #booktwt #BookX #BookSky #damppebbles

Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at damppebbles.

The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.

This week’s theme is Books I Did Not Finish (DNFed). Full disclosure, I’m one of THOSE people. You know the type I’m talking about. The ones that no matter how much they’re struggling with a book, they still won’t DNF it. I just can’t do it. I’ve started it, so I WILL finish it. It may take weeks, months (hopefully not years!) but I will NOT give up on a book. I think out of the thousands of books I’ve read, I’ve DNF’d less than a handful, and they’ve mostly been non-fiction books. I am not a non-fiction reader. Also, I’m not fully comfortable talking about books I didn’t enjoy. Please see my Books I Loved But Didn’t Review TTT post from 18th February for more info on that.

So instead of talking about books I didn’t enjoy (it does happen, I just don’t tend to review them) I’m going to go with a different (and in my opinion) much happier, sunnier post this week. My Mum’s Ten Favourite Books. It’s Mother’s Day here in the UK on Sunday 30th March so it’s perfect timing. My mum means the world to me. She’s my proofreader and number one cheerleader. She’s done so much for me over the years and I want to honour her here on the blog today. Thanks Mum, for everything xxx

1. Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor

2. The Stranger in Her House by John Marrs

3. The Last List of Mabel Beaumont by Laura Pearson

4. The Street by Kay Brellend

5. The Visitor by K.L. Slater

6. Mother by S.E. Lynes

7. Love Me or Leave Me by Josephine Cox

8. The Babysitter by Sheryl Browne

9. The Stolen Sister by Louise Jensen

10. Single by K.L. Slater

A very easy list to compile this week! Absolutely no thought needed on my part as my Mum did all the hard work 🤣 I’m rather proud that all of the psychological thrillers/suspense novels on her list are recommendations I gave. Either from Mum reading my blog reviews or asking me to suggest authors she would enjoy (Louise Jensen, K.L. Slater, John Marrs & Sheryl Browne). It’s quite an eclectic list too!

Have you read any of these books? Are there any on Mum’s list that take your fancy? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.

So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!

  1. Happy Mother’s Day to your mom! I think it’s so interesting that the U.K. celebrates this holiday about 6 weeks before we do in North America.

  2. This is such a cool post idea! I kind of want to borrow it for the week of Mother’s Day in America. Also, your mom has some awesome taste in reading – I haven’t read any of these but so many of them sound really interesting. I’ll definitely be adding some to my TBR, thanks for that!
