#Giveaway! It’s damppebbles 3rd blogiversary (sort of…) #win #BookBlogger #damppebbles #amreviewing #booklove

Hello my bookish friends! A very warm and squishy welcome to damppebbles. Mondays, huh? They tend to be quite rubbish, let’s face it, but I’m hoping to make this Monday HEAPS better for you.

Back in January when I was having a bit of a bookish, bloggish break my little piece of the internet turned three years old…YAY! I’m not normally one to let things like this pass but I was a little grumpy so I did. Shame on me. However, that doesn’t mean I can’t do something to celebrate nearly a month later. Now I have to say it feels as though I’ve been part of the bookish community for a lot longer than 3 years…but in a good way. There have been some incredible highs (and a couple of lows which are now water under the bridge). What I love most about book blogging (apart from the books) are the incredible friends I have made.

Giveaway Now Closed!

So to celebrate three years of damppebbles I am offering YOU the chance to win three Kindle ebooks of your choice (one for each year I have been blogging). I’m afraid the giveaway is UK only as you can only gift ebooks on Amazon to people in the same country as you – grrrrrr. They can be absolutely anything at all (within reason). To enter all you have to do is tell me the three books you would choose in the comments below. That’s it! Easy, right? Although if I had to pick three books it would take me weeks to narrow it down¬†ūüėČ.¬† Unfortunately, you don’t have weeks (so here’s hoping you’re a little more decisive than I am!).¬† You have until midday (GMT) on Friday 15th February to comment with your three choices.¬† There’s nothing like putting the pressure on, lol!

One entry will be selected at random at midday on Friday so please make sure I have a way of contacting you if you are the lucky winner.¬† The winner will then need to provide me with their Amazon email address so I can ping the books over to them.¬† Job done!¬† Good luck everyone and thanks for all of your support over the last three years ‚̧ԳŹ.

damppebbles.com turns TWO! #blogiversary ūüéČūüéā #giveaway #damppebbles #bookblogger #amreading

Today is a very special day for me (eek!).¬† I stopped being excited about my own birthday years ago.¬† Apparently, that’s what happens when you get OLD so be warned you¬†youngsters!¬† (As a side note, I have a BIG birthday coming up this year so if you can’t find me in August, then you now know why!).¬† But that doesn’t mean that I can’t get excited about my little piece of the internet having a birthday, oh no!¬† Two years¬†ago today I stepped, with trepidation, into the world of book blogging.

What I didn’t realise at the time was how one little hobby was going to completely change my life.¬† I didn’t realise how much I could fall in love with book blogging and how my love for books and reading would continue to grow and grow.¬† But most of all and the one thing I really didn’t expect was that I would make real, lifelong friends.¬† If you’re considering starting your own book blog and you feel you have the time (oh.my.gosh. I promise it will take¬†more time then you’re expecting) then I, as a stroppy, cantankerous, self-centred two-year-old, urge you to do it.¬† I’ve not regretted starting damppebbles.com for one moment in its two-year existence.

I’ll stop blathering on now.¬† Two thousand and seventeen¬†was a great year for damppebbles.¬† More and more people managed to get the name of the blog right (damppebbles, not Damp Pebbles nor DampPebbles).¬† In fairness people also managed to get it very wrong but hey, there was an improvement which is the important thing.

I won an award!  An actual, real-life award at the Bloggers Bash 2017 where I was named Services to Bloggers winner for 2017.  Thank you so much to everyone who nominated me and then voted for me.  I got this very lovely badge for the blog and this totally gorgeous cup for the coffee:

I went to the Theakstons Old Peculier¬†Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate which has been a dream for several years now.¬† It was an incredible experience and one I hope to repeat in the future.¬† I don’t think I shared any photos with you after the event so here are a few now (some familiar faces):

And I have to share my Harrogate book haul with you because it was a little on the epic side:

I’ve been quoted in a few books here and there, including on the back cover of AJ Waines’¬†Lost in the Lake¬†(here’s a picture of the book in real life to prove it):

All in all, it’s been a pretty wonderful year for damppebbles culminating in something which began as a small idea and grew into something quite huge; R3COMM3ND3D2017.¬† I published my final post first thing this morning, followed by the after-show party post which you can read by clicking here.

| GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED |

Anyway, I’m sure someone at some point mentioned a giveaway.¬† And what a giveaway I have for you, you lucky things!¬† I have a mega book bundle which one lucky UK winner will receive to say thanks for following damppebbles.¬† If I could send you all books I would but let’s face facts, that would probably bankrupt me and I have a young family to support!¬† So without further ado, here is what’s on offer…

Paperbacks which will be sent from damppebbles HQ…

Dancers in the Wind by Anne Coates (Hannah Weybridge #1) SIGNED!
Dead Man’s Prayer by Jackie Baldwin (DI Frank Farrell #1) SIGNED!

It’s my giveaway and I’m still completely bowled over by what’s on offer here.¬† I would like to take this opportunity to thank some incredible people for their very kind and generous donations to this prize package;¬†Karen Sullivan at Orenda Books, Jackie Baldwin, Anne Coates, Abigail Osborne, A.C. Hutchinson and Fahrenheit Press.¬† Thank you all so much for supporting my little blog.

To win this uber book bundle all you have to do is be following damppebbles.com Рeither via email or the WordPress reader.  Click on the Rafflecopter link below and follow the instructions!  One UK winner will be selected at random as the winner.  There is no cash alternative.  The winner will need to provide their address and I expect the package will be sent via courier rather than through the post.  I will also need to pass the winners address to Fahrenheit Press so they can send a second package containing the Derek Farrell books and the Jacqueline Chadwick books.  All entries will be checked to make sure they are accurate.

Any questions then please do give me a shout!

Thank you so much to all of my gorgeous fellow book bloggers, the incredibly talented authors, the brilliant publishers and the dedicated book addicts who follow damppebbles.¬† If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have lasted the two years I have!¬† You have made every moment brilliant.¬† When I first started the blog I didn’t expect anyone to follow me and now, here I am with nearly 7,000 twitter followers, just over 700 blog followers, nearly 750 Facebook followers.¬† It’s a dream come true and I am thankful every single day.¬† Thank you!¬† I can’t wait to see what the bookish world has in store for us in 2018!

damppebbles is 1 year old today! #blogiversary #amreading #amreviewing #bookblogger #giveaway

200Grab yourself a glass of fizz, stick a silly party hat on your head (you look great, honest!), gorge yourself on cake and boogie on down¬†to the dance floor. ¬†All in honour of my little blog. ¬†Today, Saturday 14th January 2017 is damppebble’s first birthday. ¬†Today I celebrate my first ever blogiversary, whoop whoop. ¬†Did I think one year ago today that I would be celebrating this landmark occasion? ¬†Well…no, I didn’t. ¬†I had dabbled in book blogging before and hadn’t got very far. ¬†(If you would like proof then please click¬†here, you have been warned!)

To celebrate I have a fabulous booky prize bundle to giveaway to one lucky winner but more about that in a moment or two.

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a book blogger over the last year. ¬†I have read books that I wouldn’t have had the chance to read otherwise. ¬†I have met the most amazing group of people, also known as the book blogging community and have made some true, lifelong friends. ¬†I have met authors on and offline, OH MY GOSH…AUTHORS! ¬†You wonderfully talented people are my rock stars and if I seemed like a gibbering wreck when ¬†I met you then that’s the reason why. ¬†Utterly starstruck. ¬†I have participated in numerous brilliant blog tours (apologies to anyone I’ve missed)…

giphyI was voted¬†Fahrenheit Press‘ Blogger of the Week (well, fortnight as it turned out but I wasn’t complaining!). ¬†As well as appearing on a number of other fabulous blogs talking about my book obsession. ¬†And I finally made it to a blogger/author meet-up in Birmingham (the first of many I hope, so I can continue to gibber at you lovely authors). ¬†All in all I think my first year has gone rather well!

But enough of my wittering, where are the prizes you ask..?!  I have a rather lovely bunch of Orenda goodies on offer to one lucky winner.

First up I have my original copy of the phenomenal A Suitable Lie, my book of 2016. ¬†If you missed my review then click¬†here. ¬†Oh, and don’t worry. ¬†A very kind person sent me a signed copy of ASL so I do still have one on my bookshelf (phew!). ¬†I also have a crimey magnetic bookmark with the 50 best crime novels. ¬†I’m not sure who they asked as my list would be quite different but it’s an interesting discussion point. ¬†And finally, being sent from¬†damppebbles HQ, there is a pretty turquoise notebook with accompanying pink pencil and butterflies printed on the pages. ¬†It’s lovely and one for the stationery addicts out there. ¬†But wait, there’s more…

The incredibly lovely Karen Sullivan at Orenda Books has offered the winner a SIGNED copy of Rupture by Ragnar Jonasson (paperback published 15th January 2017) and a SIGNED copy of In Her Wake by Amanda Jennings (paperback published April 2016).  A special thank you to Karen for offering such fabulous prizes and wanting to be a part of my first blogiversary.

So there we have it.  What a prize bundle, huh?  So now all you need to know is how to enter.  The giveaway is open to existing and new followers of damppebbles.com.  UK ONLY please (sorry but postage is a killer!).  The winner will need to provide me with their postal address which I will then share with Karen Sullivan at Orenda Books, no one else.  The giveaway ends at midnight (GMT) on 18th January 2017.  Click on the link below to enter.  Good luck everyone!

So here’s to my second year as a fully fledged book blogger. ¬†I am honoured by the support I have received over the last year and by the way I have been welcomed into the booky community with open (warm and fuzzy) arms. ¬†For each tweet, retweet, share or mention, each comment, like and follow…thank you!! ¬†I am hugely grateful and still find it hard to believe that¬†there is someone out there who is interested in what I have to say. ¬†Thank you, thank you, thank you.

giphy-1

One final thing before you go (if there is anyone still reading at this point!!) here are my most popular posts of the past 12 months. ¬†I’m glad that my most viewed review is also one of my very favourite books, that makes it even more special.

Most visited post (My Husbands Son blog tour, guest post by Deborah O’Connor)
My most visited review (The Optician’s Wife by Betsy Reavley)

Thanks everyone, looking forward to the next year.

p.s. It’s ‘damppebbles’, not damp pebbles or Damp Pebbles or (OMG) DampPebbles. ¬†It’s just like ‘Waterstones’, but better because I’d serve wine ūüėČ
