#R3COMM3ND3D2019 with #BookBlogger Joanne (@portybelle) #PortobelloBookBlog #damppebbles #BookRecommendations #Publishedin2019

Hello book friends and welcome to Tuesday on damppebbles. I hope you’re having a fantastic book filled week so far! Today I am delighted to welcome another favourite book blogger of mine to share the #R3COMM3ND3D2019 book love with us – the fabulous Joanne of Portobello Book Blog. Joanne’s blog is absolutely gorgeous so I insist you give her a follow if you don’t already. You can thank me later πŸ˜‰

So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2019? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors and book bloggers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2019. To make things interesting I have added a couple of teeny, tiny rules this year which are; 1) the book must have first been published in 2019 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes.

Here are Joanne’s three #R3COMM3ND3D2019 picks…

Needlemouse by Jane O’Connor
I really took the main character Sylvia to my heart. From a prickly character who made really bad decisions, she turned out to be one of my favourite fictional characters. A book to soothe the soul.

The Glittering Hour by Iona Grey
I loved this book which whisked me back in time to the glamorous 1920s. It was gorgeously romantic and heartbreakingly tragic by turns.

The Secret to Happiness by Jessica Redland
It’s a wonderful story of friendship between three very different women which made me smile and cry. It’s beautifully told and so uplifting.

Three absolutely gorgeous sounding books (and look at those covers!). Thank you so much, Joanne.

About Joanne:
I can’t remember not being a reader and always have at least one book on the go. I started my blog, Portobello Book Blog, in April 2015 to share my love of the books I was reading and it’s been great fun. I’m a busy wife and mum to two lovely girls, an avid book reader of course, a nature watcher, a keen cook and baker, always on the go and I love living by the sea.
