Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles on the first Saturday in December. It’s always lovely to see you. Today I am delighted to welcome another brilliant book blogger to share three of their favourite 2020 titles with us. It’s the very lovely Nicki Mags of Secret Library Book Blog. You absolutely must give Nicki a follow if you don’t already as her blog is a veritable goldmine of bookish treats.
Before I go any further, I wanted to share that when I saw Nicki’s three #R3COMM3ND3D2020 picks, I got goosebumps. Those of you who know me may think it’s because of my obsession with a particular book. Well, this time, it’s not. After I’ve shared with you the three books Nicki chose, the number of individual books recommended this year will hit 100 exactly. The 100th book is just perfect and that’s the reason for the goosebumps.
So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2020? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors, book bloggers and bookstagrammers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2020. To make things interesting I have added a couple of teeny, tiny rules this year which are; 1) the book must have first been published in 2020 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes. 😉
Here are Nicki’s three #R3COMM3ND3D2020 picks…
We Begin at the End by Chris Whitaker
This book was amazing and gave me a huge book hangover. I cared about the characters and thought about them constantly. I was still thinking about them days after I’d finish it, wandering how they were and if they were going to be okay.

The Switch by Beth O’Leary
i loved this audiobook it was such fun and made me laugh out loud on numerous occasions, especially when Eileen was telling her part of the story. I listened to an NetGalley copy and then bought my own copy as I know I’ll listen to it again sometime soon!

Dear Reader: The Comfort and Joy of Books by Cathy Rentzenbrink
I knew as soon as I started reading this that I would love it. It felt like coming home, and filled me with such strong sense of calm reading about the author’s love of books and reading. This is a book I will read again and again and again!
Nicki’s Review of Dear Reader
Perfect choices, Nicki. Thank you for sharing them with us. The 100th book recommended as part of #R3COMM3ND3D2020 is Dear Reader which feels ‘right’. I’m thrilled to see We Begin at the End on your list as, and stop me if I’ve mentioned this before 😂, it’s my book of 2020. This is also the third time it’s been selected so we have an out and out leader! The book to currently beat is We Begin at the End by Chris Whitaker.
