Hello and welcome to a brand new week on damppebbles. I have lots of lovely book recommendations coming your way, starting with today’s R3COMM3ND3D2020 guest. One of the things I love most about R3COMM3ND3D (apart from the books, and I know I ALWAYS say that) is that I get to meet new authors and bloggers. Today I am delighted to welcome a fairly ‘new to me’ blogger to share three of their top books published this year, it’s the lovely Satabdi of Book Reviews by Satabdi.
So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2020? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors, book bloggers and bookstagrammers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2020. To make things interesting I have added a couple of teeny, tiny rules this year which are; 1) the book must have first been published in 2020 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes. 😉
Here are Satabdi’s three recommendations…
The Memories We Bury by H.A. Leuschel
A mind twisting, uneasy read about how those we grow to trust and depend on turn predatory and obsessive. You’ll never look at people in quite the same way again.
Satabdi’s Review of The Memories We Bury
Return Addresses by Michael A McLellan
Dark, gritty, and exquisitely written story that follows an orphan’s struggle in the broken foster care system to his experiences with rabid violence, abuse of all kinds, and racism. This book set my teeth on edge!
Satabdi’s Review of Return Addresses
Little Tea by Claire Fullerton
A deep, soulful, and brutally honest look into the political and social atmosphere of Mississippi in the 1980s through the eyes of four friends. The author’s portrayal of friendship that transcends the boundaries of race and class–and how things have changed in the current times is breathtaking.
Satabdi’s Review of Little Tea
Three great looking choices, thank you Satabdi. I think there could be a few additions to my wish list here as well!
