Hello and welcome to damppebbles and the first #R3COMM3ND3D post of 2021 🥳. I’m so excited about this year’s feature for three reasons. The first, it’s been a bit of a rubbish year again thanks to one thing or another. The second, I’ve had a sneak peak at some of the books. They’re looking good, let me tell you, and I’ve already added a couple to my wish list! And the third reason, #R3COMM3ND3D turns FIVE this year so I will be eating cake whilst putting the posts together. Cake and books, mmmmmmm 😋

But enough of cake (if that’s possible). Let’s meet the first willing volunteer for 2021 and gaze upon the bookish delights they have chosen for us. I am delighted to welcome the fabulous Nicki Richards to damppebbles today to share her three #R3COMM3ND3D2021 picks. Nicki is a brilliant blogger whose passion for crime and psychological thrillers shines through in her reviews. If you don’t already, make sure you give her a follow over at Nicki’s Life of Crime.

So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2021? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors, book bloggers and bookstagrammers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2021. To make things interesting there are a couple of teeny, tiny rules; 1) the book must have first been published in 2021 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes 😉

As this is the fifth year of #R3C, things are going to be a smidge different this year. There’s a scary deadline involved *shudder*. The #R3COMM3ND3D application form will only be open until midday (GMT) on Wednesday 1st December. If you would like to take part in #R3C this year (and I would LOVE you to!) then please get your three choices in sooner rather than later. Any posts scheduled for later in December will be brought forward and I will close the series early if I’m not able to fill all of the available dates. The form is at the bottom of this post if you fancy taking part.

It’s an incredible, intricately plotted story that is so cleverly written and has some totally mind blowing twists. Very addictive and very very highly recommended.

This is a fast paced, intense Y/A thriller that rockets along faster than the wildfires that feature in the story.

This author’s books are always addictive reads but I think she has excelled herself with this enthralling thriller that has a genuinely unexpected shocking twist.
