Hello and welcome to a brand new day on damppebbles. It’s Tuesday and day 41 of #R3COMM3ND3D2021. Yup, you read that right. It’s day FORTY-ONE of #R3COMM3ND3D2021. What a cracking series it’s been so far. We have two books in first place at the moment, two books in second place, two books in third place and too many books to count in fourth…. Ah. OK, it’s 102 books in fourth place. I admit, I have a spreadsheet. I am a nerd πŸ™ˆ

I am delighted to welcome a brilliant book blogger to share three of their top 2021 reads with us today, it’s the fabulous Ally of Ally’s Reading Corner. Ally’s blog is fantastic so if you don’t already follow her reviews, head on over there now and hit the subscribe button.

So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2021? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors, book bloggers and bookstagrammers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2021. To make things interesting there are a couple of teeny, tiny rules; 1) the book must have FIRST been published in 2021 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes πŸ˜‰

Here are the three books Ally recommends…

You Need Me by Sharon Bairden
The book was incredible. It was dark, twisty, unique and has one of the best written characters I have come across in a long time.
Ally’s Review of You Need Me

Ouija by Zoe-Lee O’Farrell
This was the first short story I have ever read and it has definitely made me want to read more. Not only this but it set my teeth on edge, made me nervous and is probably the first book to actually freak me out like that.
Ally’s Review of Ouija

Dead Mercy (Maggie Jamieson #5) by Noelle Holten
This book is the best in the series so far, it is thrilling, fast paced and brilliantly written. It also scares me quite a bit to know that the DC Maggie Jamieson books also have a little bit of truth to them.
Ally’s Review of Dead Mercy

Three terrific picks, thanks so much Ally. One I have on my terrifying TBR already and the other two will be joining it shortly. I love that all three of your picks are written by fabulous bloggers turned brilliant authors ❀️

Sadly submissions for #R3COMM3D3D2021 are now closed (posts will be running until just before Christmas so we’re not quite done yet). Shortly after the last post I will be inviting you all to attend the virtual after-show party, which should be a giggle, where we can cast our eyes over the marvellous and majestic beauty of 2021’s books. We will also crown 2021’s winner (or joint winners, if that’s the case). So I expect it to be a jolly good ol’ knees up! Until then stay tuned as we have lots more bookish loveliness heading your way ❀
