Hello friends and welcome to Saturday on damppebbles. The weekend is finally here and what a brilliant bookish week it’s been! We’re coming into the home straight now for #R3COMM3ND3D2022 with posts running until the 30th November. Shortly after that (or sometime after that, depending on how organised I am!) I will share this year’s results including the overall winner (or winners!). So make sure you stay tuned to damppebbles!
Joining me today to talk all things #R3COMM3ND3D2022 is a fairly new-to-me blogger but I already love their reviews and how absolutely beautiful their blog is. It’s the fabulous Wendy W. of The Bashful Bookworm. If you haven’t discovered Wendy’s blog yet then you need to make sure that changes. You won’t regret it!
So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2022? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors, book bloggers, reviewers and bookstagrammers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2022. To make things interesting there are a couple of teeny, tiny rules; 1) the book must have FIRST been published in 2022 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes 😉
Here are the three books Wendy recommends…
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
Its a quirky and very well written historical novel that is both inspirational and heartwarming. It features a strong, independent heroine who will steal your heart. The story and writing are very unique, and when I finished this book, I had a big smile on my face. Main character Elizabeth Zott is a character I won’t easily forget.
Wendy’s Review of Lessons in Chemistry
Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover
It’s a very emotional contemporary romance that is both heartbreaking and inspirational. These characters are so realistic and human, that I still think of them, months after I finished reading the book.
Wendy’s Review of Reminders of Him
Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult & Jennifer Finney Boylan
This contemporary story combines a mystery, courtroom drama and a beautifully told story. These characters are strong, interesting, and courageous. It’s a story that stays with me and one I will not soon forget.

Thank you so much, Wendy. Three hugely popular books from the last year and what beautiful covers. They look so pretty together!
About Wendy W:
Hello, my name is Wendy and my Book Review Blog is named the Bashful Bookworm.
I’ve always read books and I can thank my mother for always taking us to the library to discover new treasures. I retired recently and renewed my love of books, and read a lot of reviews to find the best books out there that I would enjoy. For this reason, I thought it would be a great idea to review books to help others figure out what books are best for them to read.
I named the blog the Bashful Bookworm because, like many bookworms, I am an introvert and can be shy around people I don’t know.

Sadly submissions for #R3COMM3D3D2022 are now closed. Shortly after the last post I will be inviting you to attend the virtual after-show party, which should be fun. We’ll get to gaze upon the marvellous and majestic beauty of 2022’s books and also crown 2022’s winner, if we have one (they’re all winners, right?). Until then stay tuned as we have lots more bookish gorgeousness heading your way throughout November.
Lessons in Chemistry is on my radar. I keep watching for a Kindle deal but have ordered it from the library!
