Hello bookish friends and welcome to a chilled out, book-filled Sunday on damppebbles. It’s day five of #R3COMM3ND3D2023 and so far, this year’s #R3C is proving to be the best yet (even if I do say so myself, lol!)! With twelve brilliant books already safely stored in the #R3COMM3ND3D2023 vault, I wonder what new treats we’ll be adding today.
Joining me on this chilly, chilled-out Sunday to share the 2023 book love is the fabulous Nicki Mags of Secret Library Book Blog. Nicki’s blog is full of bookish gems so if you don’t already subscribe then you know what to do – head on over to Nicki’s blog and hit the blue button! You can thank me later 😉
So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2023? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors, book bloggers, reviewers and bookstagrammers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2023. To make things interesting there are a couple of teeny, tiny rules; 1) the book must have FIRST been published in 2023 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. See, it wasn’t too painful. I just like to keep you lovely people on your toes!
Let’s not delay, here are the three books Nicki recommends…

Someone Else’s Shoes by Jojo Moyes
This took me through all the emotions, and made me cry a couple of times, which is something I rarely do when reading.

Mrs Porter Calling by AJ Pearce
I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book, even rationing myself when it was nearing the end.

None of This is True by Lisa Jewell
Wow what an audiobook! This was one of my highly anticipated listens for the year, and boy did it live up to my expectations! I think it’s Lisa Jewell’s darkest yet, something I seem to say every year!
Nicki’s Review of None of This is True
Thanks so much, Nicki. Three cracking titles which all look absolutely brilliant!
About Nicki Mags:
Hi I’m Nicki and I’ve been blogging for 7 years at Secret Library Book Blog. I’m definitely a mood reader, which means I never really know what I’m going to read next. I enjoy a variety of genres including romance, historical and contemporary fiction. I also enjoy nonfiction and I love audiobooks. I’m still hanging around on Twitter and I’m getting the hang of Bluesky

#R3COMM3ND3D will only run for the month of November this year so places are very limited. If you would like to take part in #R3C this year (and I would LOVE you to!) then please get your three choices in ASAP. If I’m unable to fill all 30 dates then any posts scheduled for the end of November will be brought forward and I will close the series early (but I don’t want to do that, it sounds miserable! 😂). Here are two different versions of the form if you fancy taking part.
If you’re a book blogger, bookstagrammer, reviewer or an author and you have three books published this year which you want to shout about then please complete the following form (or click this link: https://forms.gle/d6HbMLZJjEtUSm8FA)
Yay Nicki! So fun to see your recs! 😂
