Hello and a very warm welcome to you. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to occasionally (that’s the keyword here, occasionally!) take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme. The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.
It’s my eighth week of participating in Top Ten Tuesday and for the first time, I can’t help but feel that I’m cutting it fine! I’ve always said TTT will be an occasional feature on damppebbles (who am I kidding?!) and I’ll only take part when I have the time and brain-power to put a post together. Well, here I sit on Monday evening at 21:29 following a day of trying to find a smidgeon of spare time to write a post and failing in the most miserable fashion. So we’re going with a ‘last minute’ feel this week. Hopefully not to be repeated. Truth be told, I really enjoy writing these posts so despite my numerous proclamations that this is not a regular thing, it seems it has become just that!
Anyhoo, this week’s topic is: Characters I’d Like to go on Vacation With but the aforementioned brain-power isn’t present this evening so I’m going to swerve that theme and go with something different this week. I’ve had a quick look at the TTT archives and Mainstream Popular Authors that I Still Have Not Read – a topic from November 2023 – jumped out at me. So that’s what my list will be this week. Let me know in the comments which of these authors I should prioritise.
From L to R:
1. L.J. Ross
2. Adele Parks
3. Jo Nesbo
4. Ian Rankin (can’t help but smile at the look Ian is giving Jo in this montage!)
5. Lee Child
6. Harlan Coben
7. Ann Cleeves
8. Paul Cleave
9. S.A. Cosby
10. Lisa Jewell (cheating a little with this one as I did read Ralph’s Party when I was 21 but I haven’t read any of Lisa’s more recent thrillers!)
Strangely difficult to come up with ten names! I also get the feeling that many of my fellow crime bloggers will deny knowing me after admitting to some of the above 🙈 I also hope you’ll forgive me for including Lisa Jewell. For context, I was 21 in 1999!! So it was a while ago.
Have you read any of these authors’ books? If so, which of their books do you recommend? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.
So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!
Paul Cleave should be at the top of your list!

I think you were the first person to recommend one of his books to me. If memory serves….🤔

I swerved the topic too. I’ve only read books by two of the authors on your list – Jo Nesbo (a retelling of Macbeth) and Paul Cleave (The Quiet People). I’d recommend the last one

That’s the second recommendation I’ve had for Paul Cleave so I’ll move him up the TBR! Thanks Cathy 😁

I can’t believe you haven’t read Ian Rankin! Even me who hardly ever reads a crime book enjoy his.

🙈🙈😂 I know. I do feel ashamed of myself. I’m bound to be ousted from the crime blogger community following this post 😬😂😂

I’m sure I’ve got a list of authors that’d get me blacklisted as a crime book blogger! I’d hugely recommend SA Cosby’s books. Just astonishingly good.

I’ve heard only good things about SA Cosby’s books. Make me feel better, Dave. Which crime writer haven’t you read that you think would get you blacklisted? Richard Osman or Rev Richard Coles DON’T count 😂😂😂

I don’t do all topics, either. Sometimes the ol’ brainpan just isn’t creative.

I was pulling this post together far too late last night to go with the original topic 😂 Love that so many others managed to come up with some great on-topic posts!

I only had five this morning, then I decided just to think up some favorite characters.

I think I might have read Ann Cleeves, but I don’t think I’ve read anyone else on this list. I’ve heard great things about several of them, though.

Fab, thank you. I’ll move Ann Cleeves up the list in that case.
