Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at dp. My original plan was to participate as and when I had the time to put a post together. That then turned into posting ‘weekly without fail’ until I was forced to take a break following surgery to both shoulders (that recovery happened to coincide with a complete and utter loss of reading and blogging mojo 🤷🏻‍♀️). But now I’m back and I’m going to take a much more chilled approach to all things bookish. Which means TTT will return to being a regular feature on damppebbles but a ‘no pressure’ one (that’s the plan anyway!).

The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.

This week’s theme is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2024 which like last week and the week before, sounds a bit like a list that is going to write itself – hoorah! However, I am a little nervous about this one because I only read a handful of books in 2024 and I can’t remember how many were written by new-to-me authors and how many were by authors I was already familiar with! But let’s give it a go and find out how it all pans out (thank goodness for Goodreads!)…

1. Alice McIlroy (author of The Glass Woman)

2. Libby Page (author of The Lifeline)

3. Nikki Smith (author of The Guests)

4. Georgina Lees (author of True Crime)

5. Jane Flett (author of Freakslaw)

6. Rachel Hancox (author of The House at the Edge of the Woods)

7. Josh Winning (author of Heads Will Roll)

8. Simone St. James (author of Murder Road)

9. Kaaron Warren (author of The Underhistory)

10. Christina Henry (author of The House That Horror Built)

Aaaaaaand relax… I had more than enough new-to-me authors on my 2024 Goodreads shelf to write this post. In fact, I could probably have written it twice over! Seems 2024 was a year for trying something new which I am all for. I wonder how many new-to-me authors I will read this year! What an exciting prospect, indeed.

Have you read any of these books? Are there any on my list that take your fancy? Do you like to read new-to-you authors or do you prefer to stick to what you know? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.

So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!

  1. I haven’t read any of these authors. I am busy right now updating my list of reviewed books and it is painfully obvious to me that I don’t often read the same author over and over. There are just a few authors I make sure to read everything they publish based on my previous reading experiences, but not many. So every year is a long list of new authors.
