Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at damppebbles. Add a little bit of variety to our bookish weeks.
The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. This week’s theme is Authors (or books by authors) Who Live In My State/Country (submitted by Jennifer @ Funk-N-Fiction). I live in Oxfordshire in the UK which is rich in literary history and influence. So instead of just going with ‘England’ I’ve decided to go with a list of ten authors I *believe* live in Oxfordshire. Disclaimer: My information realistically could be out of date and incorrect. Plus, all of the authors listed below are stated as living in Oxford or Oxfordshire online, so I’m hope I’m not breaking some sort of GDPR rule and sharing private information. It’s not like I’m giving their actual home address away, right?!

8. Philip Pullman (interesting fact [perhaps only to me though!], I missed out on having Philip Pullman as my middle school English teacher by one poxy year!)

That was a fairly tough list to come up with. I could have made it a lot easier and gone with the writers we all automatically think of when we think of Oxford (C.S. Lewis. J.R.R. Tolkien, Lewis Carroll etc) but wanted to go in a more contemporary direction.

I loved This Is Going to Hurt. It’s probably the only book that has been able to have me roaring with laughter and then sobbing my eyes out within such a short space of time.

I haven’t even heard of most of these! I do love C.S. Lewis, though 🙂 The most famous living author from my state (Arizona) is probably Stephenie Meyer (Twilight saga) or Diana Gabaldon (Outlander).

I have read one Adam Kay book, and on my TBR shelf, I have Lucy Atkins and Nicola Cornick. I actually have a Phillip Pullman book on my shelves downstairs and read The Golden Compass to my class years ago. You did a good job narrowing your list down.
