#TopTenTuesday | 3rd June 2025: Summer Freebie – Yellow Covers #Top10Tuesday #bookblogger #bookish #amreading #TTT #BookTwitter #booktwt #BookX #BookSky #damppebbles

Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at damppebbles. Add a little bit of variety to our bookish weeks.

The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.

This week’s theme is a Summer Freebie. I’m currently recovering from my fourth shoulder op in twelve months so I’m going to go with a super easy option rather than trying to come up with something clever! I hope you’ll forgive me. The books I tend to read don’t often (I won’t say ‘always’) make you think of summer or give summer vibes. They’re more….moody then that. Dark, brooding, intense, generally miserable? Yes! Summer? Not so much. So I’m going to take the easy path this week with Books with Yellow Covers (is there a more summery colour than yellow? Summer is yellow. Yellow is summer.). The very short rules: there has to be a good proportion of yellow on the cover. It’s actually remarkable how many crime/mystery/thriller books use yellow lettering on a dark, moody background! The title CAN’T be the only yellow aspect of the cover (otherwise it would be too easy!).

1. Believe by S.M. Govett

2. The Six Murders of Daphne St Clair by Mackenzie Common
Yellow title but I think there’s enough background yellow. I do love this cover so I’m allowing it!

3. The Book of Guilt by Catherine Chidgey
A slightly darker yellow than the first two covers but still yellow!

4. Deadly Animals by Marie Tierney

5. Our Last Wild Days by Anna Bailey
Yellow-ish?

6. The Surf House by Lucy Clarke

7. Other People’s Houses by Clare Mackintosh

8. It Ends at Midnight by Harriet Tyce

9. Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent

10. Black Widows by Cate Quinn

Yellow is its many summery shades! And if you don’t think some of these covers are yellow, if I could just ask you to squint a bit and look at them side ways…. Any better?

Have you read any of these books? Pop quiz: what’s the first book that springs to your mind with a yellow cover? Is there a more summery colour than yellow? Are you Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.

So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!

  1. I love bright, summery yellow! Most of the walls in my house are painted a cheery yellow. Just looking at them makes me happy 🙂

I’m like you, I’m much more likely to read a moody, broody book than a bright, sunny one. I have noticed the yellow cover trend in mysteries/thrillers, though. It’s interesting how a color’s vibe can change depending on how it’s used. Also, I haven’t read any of these books, but all of them sound like ones I would like. My TBR list is going to hate me for adding all these…ha ha.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    Susan
