Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at damppebbles. Add a little bit of variety to our bookish weeks.
The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.
This week’s theme is Literary/Bookish Candles I’d Make (pick a book and assign it a fragrance or fragrance combo that would make a nice candle. Submitted by Heather @ The Frozen Library) but I’m so uncreative that I’m going to pass on this week’s theme and go with Books By My Favourite Authors That I Still Need to Read. I have selected this theme from the archive without any thought or an ounce of planning so please, wish me luck.

1. Tall Oaks by Chris Whitaker
I can’t believe, myself, that I haven’t read this. In fact, I keep convincing myself that I have. Have I read it? Aargh! I don’t think I’ve read it. I can find no record of it and I’ve recorded everything I’ve read on Goodreads since the year dot. And I would have reviewed it, and there’s no review. By posting this I know I’m going to get it in the neck from a number of blogger friends. Off to hide! 😂

2. The Honeymoon Trap by Peter Swanson
I have read all of Peter Swanson’s novels (a fact I’m pretty proud of) but this is a Kindle short story that as yet, I haven’t picked up. I’m pretty sure I own it. Must try harder!

3. The Killer Question by Janice Hallett
It’s brand new (published a few weeks ago) and I haven’t got my mitts on a copy yet. Very much looking forward to it though.

4. Born in a Burial Gown by M.W. Craven
This is the first book in the Avison Fluke series (preceded by a short story collection: Assume Nothing, Believe Nobody, Challenge Everything). I’ve not read either of these books and for that, I feel quite guilty. This is the author behind my favourite crime series featuring Washington Poe and Tilly Bradshaw. If you’ve read and loved any of the Poe books, I can guarantee you will also love Fluke. Must move these up the TBR!

5. The Narrows by Ronald Malfi
I’ve used The Narrows as an example but there are MANY Ronald Malfi books I still have to read and that is a very exciting prospect indeed! I have struggled in the past to find a number of his books in the UK so hopefully, as his popularity grows, UK publishers will reissue some of his older work. It happened with Bone White recently so fingers crossed.

6. The Angel of Indian Lake by Stephen Graham Jones
SGJ’s books are a bit like Ronald Malfi’s books. Not always easy to find in the UK. This is the final book in a trilogy which I adored, and the only reason I haven’t read it yet is that I don’t want it to be over! Yes, I know I can reread the entire trilogy again but I don’t tend to do that, so…..

7. Last One Left Alive by Michael Wood
This is the twelfth book in the DCI Matilda Darke series and I haven’t read it. The thirteenth book is on the brink of being published so I’m now starting to feel the pressure. There are also a number of standalones by this author that are on my Kindle TBR. Plus, and I always have to mention this when I talk about the Matilda Darke series, I haven’t actually read the first book in the series, For Reasons Unknown (that’s the title, not me making excuses 😂)

8. You Killed Me First by John Marrs
I love John Marrs’s books but oh my gosh, I’ve hardly made a dent in his back catalogue! Lots of lovely, tense and nerve wracking reading ahead.

9. Written in Blood by Chris Carter
This is the eleventh book in the Robert Hunter series and I haven’t read it. Or book twelve, or book thirteen. As seems to be the norm with me, I have fallen behind with this brilliant series. Oh the shame! 🫣

10. Nine Elms by Robert Bryndza
I have been harping on about reading this book for AGES now. It’s the first book in the Kate Marshall series and plays a fairly major part in the set-up for the later books. I’ve read a couple of the later books (which worked perfectly well without reading this one) but they’re so good and the plotline is so intriguing that I just HAVE to read this book.
That’s my Autumn reading list sorted then! Gosh, so many books, so little time. I wonder how many of these I can get read before the end of the year. I’m surprised there are so many actually. Particularly the series I’ve fallen behind on (Michael Wood, Chris Carter etc).
Have you read any of these books? Are you a more dedicated fan than I am and do you read the books by your favourite authors straight away? Or are there just too many lovely books out there distracting you? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.
So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!

I had to spin the prompt this week as well! Nice post!

I’m a bit like that too, I read a book and enjoy it and promise myself I will pick up the next one by that author and then pfft, the thought disappears.

What a brilliant idea to switch up the prompt! I love your list of books by favourite authors you still need to read. I have the same problem with some of my favourite authors, especially when they release new series. It can be so hard to keep up! I’d definitely be interested in reading Tall Oaks and The Honeymoon Trap. What a great post!

Oh, I love this topic! I haven’t read anything by any of these authors, so you’re way ahead of me 🙂
Happy TTT!

I just finished reading The Killer Question and my review will come out tomorrow. But… the release date I was given was September 23, so… not yet.

For me it’s definitely needing to read The Lost Man by Jane Harper, especially before her new one comes out next year!
