#TopTenTuesday | 21st October 2025: Atmospheric Reads #Top10Tuesday #bookblogger #bookish #amreading #TTT #BookTwitter #booktwt #BookX #BookSky #damppebbles

Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at damppebbles. Add a little bit of variety to our bookish weeks.

The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog, then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.

This week’s theme is Cosy/Atmospheric Reads. If you’re a regular visitor to the blog then you’ll know that I don’t tend to read a lot of cosy fiction, not even cosy crime really. I do love the Thursday Murder Club series (along with anything else Richard Osman writes!) but even those books have quite a dark edge to them. Sometimes I wonder how they manage to pass the cosy crime test! So, of course, I’m going to go with atmospheric reads as a number of books immediately spring to mind. I’m feeling quite positive about this week’s theme. Let’s see how it goes…

1. House of Bone and Rain by Gabino Iglesias

2. The God of the Woods by Liz Moore

3. The Gathering by C.J. Tudor

4. The Man Made of Smoke by Alex North

5. Our Last Wild Days by Anna Bailey

6. Looking Glass Sound by Catriona Ward

7. Black Mouth by Ronald Malfi

8. The Bone Jar by S.W. Kane

9. Soon by Lois Murphy

10. Six Stories by Matt Wesolowski

I’m rather proud of this list! Ten brilliant books where the author gets the atmosphere just right. I love them all. To be fair, I could probably write a version two, three, four, five and six of atmospheric books. Why stop after only ten!? 😂

Have you read any of the books on my list this week? Did you love them as much as I did? What’s your preference, cosy books or atmospheric books? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.

So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!

  1. What a fantastic selection for an atmospheric list! I am certainly with you on choosing the atmospheric side of the prompt, and this list is stellar.
