#TopTenTuesday | 2nd June 2026: Books I Can’t Believe I’ve Never Read #Top10Tuesday #bookblogger #bookish #amreading #TTT #BookTwitter #booktwt #BookSky #damppebbles

Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at damppebbles. Add a little bit of variety to our bookish weeks.

The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog, then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.

This week’s theme is Books I Can’t Believe I’ve Never Read. Sounds simple enough but I can’t help but feel this is going to turn into one of those posts where I look really, really bad. Call yourself a crime fiction fan, Emma? And you haven’t read these books? Pah! You’re a phoney. You know, that sort of thing….

1. Strangers on a Train by Patricia Highsmith
Seeing as a lot of the books I have read, and quite a few favourites of mine, are inspired by this book, you would have thought I would put it top of my TBR. I haven’t read it. It’s not even on my TBR…..

2. Most of Agatha Christie’s books
Oh the shame. I haven’t read a lot of Christie. I’ve read And Then There Were None, which is one of my all-time favourite books. I *think* I’ve read a couple of other Miss Marple books but I couldn’t name them and I definitely haven’t read any Poirot. I’ll get my coat….

3. Jo Nesbo’s Harry Hole Series
These books have been recommended to me multiple times over the years. In fact, only the other day in the library did someone say how good they are and how I should definitely read them.

4. IT by Stephen King
A King classic! I have a copy of my shelf. I do find the size of the book a little off-putting but I’m always so surprised I haven’t read this yet.

5. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
Another classic that I’m yet to read but probably should. I am pretty rubbish when it comes to reading classic fiction.

With that in mind, this will be the last of the classics on this list. I’m going to focus on books I own/’sort of own’ but still haven’t managed to read yet.

6. Let’s Split Up by Bill Wood
I love the sound of this book and I’m so keen to read it. But my daughter has a copy and I don’t, so I need to wait for her to read it first. That’s the kind thing to do, right….?

7. The Flower Girls by Alice Clark-Platts
I can’t believe I’m admitting to this but I won this book in a giveaway where part of the conditions of entering were you would read and review on arrival. I haven’t read it. I can’t believe I haven’t done as promised. It sounds great. I need to put more effort in 🫣

8. The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett
Not my usual thing so probably not what anyone was expecting but this is my husband’s favourite book of the past year and he does not shut up about it! I should read it. I’m surprised he hasn’t worn me down already!!

9. Pretty much anything by Simone St. James (apart from Murder Road, which I have read)
I loved Murder Road and I’ve slowly been collecting this authors books in different formats since. But I haven’t read a single one and I find that really surprising! I guess it’s a case of not enough time in the day.

10. Razorblade Tears by S.A. Cosby
This book should probably rank at Number One on this list. I don’t really understand why I haven’t read this (or any of the authors other books) yet. I have to read this book! Why haven’t I read this book?

Gah! That was a lot harder than I expected! I really struggled coming up with ten books for this list. I think the ‘can’t believe’ part of the theme was what threw me. What’s the one book you can’t believe you haven’t read yet? Have you read any of these books? Planning on reading any? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.

So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next theme is!

  1. Not so bad. As a crime fiction fan, I have actually read quite a few Agatha Christie books and decided we just don’t get along which is apparently also a bad look 😄.

I’ve only read one Cosby book and should really read more by him. He’s something else, isn’t he.
