#R3COMM3ND3D2019 with #BookBlogger Nicola Smith (@ShortBookScribe) #ShortBookandScribes #damppebbles #BookRecommendations #Publishedin2019

Hello my bookish friends and welcome to Sunday on damppebbles. I am delighted to be joined by another of my favourite bloggers today for the THIRTY-EIGHTH #R3COMM3ND3D2019 post – the fabulous Nicola of Short Book and Scribes. Nicola’s blog is a treasure trove of bookish delights so if you don’t already follow her posts then that must change. Right now. We’ll wait for you……

So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2019? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors and book bloggers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2019. To make things interesting I have added a couple of teeny, tiny rules this year which are; 1) the book must have first been published in 2019 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes. 😉

Let’s find out which three books Nicola recommends…

The Six Loves of Billy Binns.jpg

The Six Loves of Billy Binns by Richard Lumsden
It’s the story of an ordinary and long life, one that has been well and truly lived and enjoyed for more than 100 years. I loved reading about Billy and the six woman who were a part of his life.

the doll factory

The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal
This is Victorian fiction at its best. It’s evocative and atmospheric and I loved the characters. I was completely immersed in it.

Our Stop by Laura Jane Williams
This is my kind of love story. It’s not soppy or fluffy, it’s just pitch perfect. The two main characters struggle to actually meet for much of the book and I thought it was a really clever premise.

Great choices, thanks so much Nicola! This is the second time we’ve seen The Doll Factory too. It’s now on an exclusive list of six other books which have been picked more than once…
