Hello book friends and welcome to the penultimate #R3COMM3ND3D2019! Today I am delighted to welcome a fabulous book blogger to share three of their favourite 2019 book releases with us – the fantastic Joy Kluver who blogs over at Joy Kluver. Today is not only four days after Christmas, not only is it the last Sunday of 2019, it’s also Joy’s BIRTHDAY! Happy birthday, Joy. I hope you have a wonderful day. So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2019? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors and book bloggers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2019. To make things interesting I have added a couple of teeny, tiny rules this year which are; 1) the book must have first been published in 2019 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes. 😉

Here are the three books Joy recommends…

Call Me Star Girl by Louise Beech
This book took my breath away. Told in various viewpoints and timelines, the radio station scenes had me totally gripped as we counted down to the end of the story.

Blood Song (Roy & Castells #3) by Johana Gustawsson
This is such an emotive story. Johana’s portrayal of the treatment of Republican women and children during Franco’s reign is devastating but she restores dignity to those who suffered.

The Neighbour by Fiona Cummins
Fiona has been runner-up in my top ten reads for the last two years. But this year The Neighbour hits the top. Told through various viewpoints, this creepy and complex story is just extraordinary.
