Hello bookish pals and welcome to day 20 of #R3COMM3ND3D2022. Oh, and it’s also Sunday. A day for rest, relaxation and reading which is exactly what I plan to do today. As I mentioned, today marks the 20th day of #R3COMM3ND3D2022 and what a cracking series it’s turning out to be! We’ve had 55 books recommended so far with two books receiving two votes each – The Girl from Guernica by Karen Robards and Nothing Else by Louise Beech. With only 10 days to go, will these two books be joint winners? I can’t wait to find out!

Joining me to share the book love today is a brilliant author of twenty-four books (that’s seriously impressive, 24!!), it’s the fabulous Terry Tyler. If you’re a fan of dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction (yes!), or dark psychological dramas (I am, yes!) or murder mysteries (hold on, I think we may be talking about me here 😂) then Terry is the author you need in your life. And yes, I do have a number of Terry’s books on the terrifying TBR which I cannot wait to read including the most recent publication, Where There’s Doubt. So if your reading habits are anything like mine then just scroll down for more information including purchase links!

So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2022? It’s about sharing the book love. It’s a chance for authors, book bloggers, reviewers and bookstagrammers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2022. To make things interesting there are a couple of teeny, tiny rules; 1) the book must have FIRST been published in 2022 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes 😉

Here are the three books Terry recommends…

The Last Princess by Shelley Wilson
It’s a YA novel and thus quite an ‘easy read’, but can be enjoyed by adults too – it races along, and I’m a sucker for any historical story set in the dark ages, especially to do with Viking invasion.

Sisters at the Edge of the World by Ailish Sinclair
I loved this book because it so cleverly shows us a picture of life in the times of the Roman Conquest – it is set in Scotland, before the spread of Christianity, before the people had any idea of what happened in the rest of the world. Also, it’s a fabulous story.

Tales of Empire: Four stories by authors exploring Britain’s Age of Empire by Antoine Vanner, Jacqueline Reiter, Tom Williams & Penny Hampson
Four long-short stories set in the 19th Century, and each one was excellent. The four authors give such insight into the time, and they are all so beautifully written. It’s not often you find a collection by different authors in which the standard is so high, throughout.

Thank you so much, Terry. I love the look and sound of all three of your books. Three very eye-catching covers too!

About Where There’s Doubt:
‘I can be anything you want me to be. Even if you don’t know you want it.’

Café owner Kate is mentally drained after a tough two years; all she wants from her online chess partner is entertainment on lonely evenings, and maybe a little virtual flirtation.

She is unaware that Nico Lewis is a highly intelligent con artist who, with an intricately spun web of lies about their emotional connection, will soon convince her that he is The One.

Neither does Kate know that his schemes involve women who seek love on dating sites, as well as his small publishing business. A host of excited authors believe Nico is about to make their dreams come true.

Terry Tyler’s twenty-fourth publication is a sinister psychological drama that highlights the dark side of internet dating—and the danger of ignoring the doubts of your subconscious.

Sadly submissions for #R3COMM3D3D2022 are now closed. Shortly after the last post I will be inviting you to attend the virtual after-show party, which should be fun. We’ll get to gaze upon the marvellous and majestic beauty of 2022’s books and also crown 2022’s winner, if we have one (they’re all winners, right?). Until then stay tuned as we have lots more bookish gorgeousness heading your way throughout November.
