Hello and the warmest of welcomes to damppebbles. It’s great to see you. It’s the start of a brand new week, happy Monday, I hope it’s a good one for you! It’s also day 21 of #R3COMM3ND3D2022 which means that we only have another 10 posts (including this one) to share. On the bright side though, that could mean we still have another 30 brilliant books to discover. What a treat for us booklovers, eh? Without further ado, let’s find out who today’s guest is.
Joining me to share the book love today is a brilliant reviewer I strongly recommend you follow. It’s the fabulous Davida Chazan of The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog. If you don’t already follow Davida’s blog then head on over there now and make sure you change that. It’s OK, we’ll wait for you…
So, what is #R3COMM3ND3D2022? Itβs about sharing the book love. Itβs a chance for authors, book bloggers, reviewers and bookstagrammers to shout about three (yes, *only* three) books they love. They can be written by any author, in any genre and published in any way (traditionally, indie press or self-published). But there is a catch. All three books must have been published in 2022. To make things interesting there are a couple of teeny, tiny rules; 1) the book must have FIRST been published in 2022 and 2) special editions and reissues do not count. I like to keep you lovely people on your toes π
Here are the three books Davida recommends….
No Land to Light On by Yara Zgheib
Right now, this is my #1 favorite book of 2022. This is a beautifully written story about refugees and the horrible treatment they received in the US during the times of the Muslim ban.

A Brilliant Night of Stars and Ice by Rebecca Connolly
OMG, I cried SO much reading this book. It is about the Titanic, but from the side of the captain of the Carpathia (the only ship to rescue survivors) and a steerage passenger from the Titanic. Connolly did a brilliant job of finding a new aspect of this well-known, tragic event to write her novel.

The Winners (Beartown #3) by Fredrik Backman
Well… Backman is Backman, right? Actually, this is the longest of his novels, and the third on in his Beartown trilogy. Once again, he not only made me laugh out loud (and I mean really out loud), he also brought me to tears. What a wonderful ending to this tale about – of all things – Hockey! Who would have thought, right?
Davida’s Review of The Winners
Thank you so much, Davida. I love the sound of all three books and those covers are stunning!
About Davida Chazan:
I’m a recently retired, mildly dyslexic, poet, chocolate connoisseur, baker, ice cream maker, avid reader, feminist, aspiring novelist. I have been writing on-line content (reviews and articles of all kinds) since about 1998. In 2013, I began specializing in writing book reviews.

Sadly submissions for #R3COMM3D3D2022 are now closed. Shortly after the last post I will be inviting you to attend the virtual after-show party, which should be fun. We’ll get to gaze upon the marvellous and majestic beauty of 2022’s books and also crown 2022’s winner, if we have one (they’re all winners, right?). Until then stay tuned as we have lots more bookish gorgeousness heading your way throughout November.
Thank you, darling! This is always a pleasure to see what other people are recommending. Mind you, I had a hard time deciding on the third one – No Land and Brilliant Night were both automatic picks. In retrospect, I’m thinking I should have gone with “Small Eden” by Jane Davis as my third book, since Backman is probably on other lists. Oh well…

Thank you for taking part, Davida. Interestingly, you’re the only person so far to choose Fredrik Backman’s latest book as one of your titles π

Oh… really? Surely someone else on the list picked it as well!

Not that we’ve discovered so far! But we do have another 9 days before the end of #R3COMM3ND3D2022, so there’s still time…

I read A Brilliant Night of Stars and Ice on Davida’s recommendation and loved it. The grandson of the real life main character, Arthur Rostron (captain of the Carpathia) lived not far from me and died very recently.

The man was a true hero, as was the radio attendant who just happened to hear the distress call! Think how many more would have died if it wasn’t for those two.
