#TopTenTuesday | 9th April 2024: Books With The Word ‘Last’ In The Title #Top10Tuesday #bookblogger #bookish #amreading #TTT #BookTwitter #booktwt #BookX #damppebbles

Hello and welcome to damppebbles. It’s so good to see you! It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to occasionally (that’s the keyword here, occasionally!) take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme. The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.

It’s my seventh week of taking part in Top Ten Tuesday and despite my protestations to the contrary, I think it’s time to admit that I’m going to try and come up with a TTT list most weeks despite initially announcing that I would only take part ‘occasionally’! I’m really enjoying taking part. Admittedly, I haven’t managed to hit the theme 100% every time but does that really matter? Of course it does! Must try harder 🫠😂

This week’s topic is a freebie so it’s down to me to choose something interesting, bookish and list worthy. I asked my husband if he had any suggestions as, as mentioned in my March #CaseClosed post, he comes up with the odd, interesting idea (interesting-ish – don’t want to give him *too* much credit! 🤣). He suggested books with colours in the titles which was an OK idea and probably something I will post in the future. I asked if he had any other suggestions. He then suggested a zodiac theme which I thought was a cracking idea. But I could only come up with a couple of books (The Tokyo Zodiac Murders by Soji Shimada is a brilliant book which you absolutely must read!). I gave up on asking for his suggestions after that and decided to go with one of my own. So for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday I am sharing a list of books with the word ‘LAST’ in the title. The idea for this list came from a new page I recently added to the blog (which you can find HERE). Whilst compiling the page I realised I REALLY like books with the word ‘last’ in the title! Books with the word ‘black’ in the title come a close second!

1. The Last One by Alexandra Oliva

2. The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh

3. The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward

4. Last Seen by Joy Kluver

5. The Last Word by Taylor Adams

6. The Last Girl by Goldy Moldavsky

7. The Last Act of Hattie Hoffman by Mindy Mejia

8. The Last by Hanna Jameson

9. The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave

10. The Last Thing to Burn by Will Dean

Once I had managed to decide on a theme this was an easy list to compile. I really enjoyed looking back on a few older reviews. Funny how easy it is to remember books from five, six, seven years ago just by rereading an old review! I’m going to be keeping an eye out now for more crime/horror novels with ‘last’ in the title so I can add a few more to my read shelf list.

Have you read any of these books? Do you find you read a lot of books with a certain word in the title (keep it clean!)? Others that spring to mind (other than ‘black’ which I mentioned earlier) are ‘girl’, ‘dead’ and ‘the’ (am I allowed to count ‘the’??). Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Are there any books on my list which have taken your fancy? Let me know in the comments.

So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!

  1. Great idea. I guess ‘last’ really lends itself to crime/thriller novels. You’ve made me break off from the review I’m supposed to be writing to sort through my Read shelf on Goodreads. Sticking to the crime genre I came up with The Last Thread by Ray Britain and The Last Train by Michael Pronko.

  2. I am loving all the different topics people have been posting today. I have read The Last House on Needless Street and The Last Thing to Burn. Funny how many thrillers have “Last” in the title.
