Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at damppebbles. Add a little bit of variety to our bookish weeks.
The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.
This week’s theme is Books that Surprised Me (in a good or bad way). I tend to read a lot of crime and psych thrillers/suspense. So, and I hope many other crime/thriller fans can relate to this, I , more often then not, go into a new book expecting to be surprised. I can’t help but feel it comes with the territory…? With this in mind, I *could* give you another list of books I love but I feel I’ve done that several times over the last month or so (TTT 08/04: Hidden Gems, TTT 11/03: Books which Include a Killer Twist, TTT 04/03: Books That Gave me a Book Hangover). So I’m going off-list and delving into the TTT archives again. This week’s theme is going to be Books with Single Word Titles (no ‘The something’, or ‘A whatever’ – it has to be just the one word). I was considering My 10 Favourite Bookish Blogs/Websites but I couldn’t narrow it down to just ten so I’ll save that for another day!
1. Honeycomb by S.B. Caves
2. Goblin by Josh Malerman
3. Fear by Dirk Kurbjuweit
6. Insomnia by Sarah Pinborough
7. Breathless by Amy McCulloch
9. Reprieve by James Han Mattson
Yes, I did choose an easy topic this week! Yes, it was very easy to put this list together. And no, I regret nothing! I have tried to include books I haven’t featured on TTT before so I’m really hoping some of these may be new to you. Some I’ve read, some are on my to-read list.
Have you read any of these books? Are there any on my list that take your fancy? What’s the first book that springs your mind with a single-word title? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.
So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!

I like single word titles! 🙌 I need to create a list one of these weeks!

Good selection – took me ages to find ten when I did this one!

I felt a little nervous before starting this list as I wasn’t sure how many I could find. Turns out, quite a lot! Maybe it’s more of a crimey thing to do?

Yes, that would generally come with the territory with these sorts of books. 🙂

My daughter has had Hide on her Christmas list a few times, but she hasn’t gotten it yet.
