Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at damppebbles. My original plan was to participate as and when I had the time to put a post together. That then turned into posting ‘weekly without fail’ until I was forced to take a break following surgery to both shoulders (that recovery happened to coincide with a complete and utter loss of reading AND blogging mojo 🤷🏻♀️).
But that was then and this is now. By the time this post is published I will have undergone shoulder surgery for the third time. I still have one more round to go – date to be confirmed – but I’m hanging everything on that fourth surgery being the end of it. No more please! The first time I went through this, I really wasn’t prepared and ended up taking a lot of time away from the blog (and reading. I stopped reading). This time, I’m ready. I’ve worked hard since discovering more surgery was required and planned content for a number of weeks in advance. Things will be different this time and hopefully, by getting a few posts written ahead of schedule, it will give me the kick up the bum to continue writing these posts well in advance.
The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.
And now for something completely different…..
This week’s theme is Books You’d Be a Fool Not to Read to coincide with April Fools’ Day. However, I feel I’ve shared a number of my ‘favourite books’ lists over the last few months as part of Top Ten Tuesday. There are only so many times I can encourage you to read Chris Whitaker, Ronald Malfi etc, right? So I’m going to take a different approach to this week’s topic. I know a lot of bloggers participate in the ‘Spell the Month in Books’ meme. I never have but I thought I would do a one-off, top ten Tuesday special to celebrate April Fool’s (and luckily, April Fools is ten letters!!). So here’s my take on ‘Spell the Month in Books’. More of a ‘Spell a random annual custom in Books’!!
1. A – All For You by Louise Jensen
2. P – (The) Puppet Master by Sam Holland
3. R – Run Time by Catherine Ryan Howard
4. I – (The) It Girl by Ruth Ware
5. L – (The) Lifeline by Libby Page
6. F – First Born by Will Dean
7. O – Other People’s Houses by Clare Mackintosh
8. O – Oracle by Thomas Olde Heuvelt
9. L – (The) Long Weekend by Gilly Macmillan
10. S – (The) Stoning by Peter Papathanasiou
What a good-looking bunch! I’m really pleased with my list this week. I’ve included a number of books that I haven’t featured on Top Ten Tuesday before. There are some great books listed above.
Have you read any of these books? Are there any on my list that take your fancy? How are you celebrating April Fools’ Day? Hiding away until it’s all over, just like me? What one book do you think I would be a fool not to read? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.
So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!

Great idea for a tweak this week! I went a bit rogue as well! 🤷♀️

Thanks Carol. I couldn’t think of a way to link the post back to April Fools! 😂🃏

Good luck with your shoulder surgery!
I try to have at least a few weeks of posts written in advance, too.

A great list of books! Good job of preparing ahead of time, and I hope you are healing nicely from your recent surgery.

Such an original spin to the topic!
Great to see Oracle got a translation as well, like Hex. I think only the setting has changed from a small Dutch town to somewhere in the USA?

I hope the surgery went well and you can read as you recover. Great twist on this week’s theme!
