#TopTenTuesday | 26th March 2024: Movies/TV Shows That Would Have Made Amazing Books #Top10Tuesday #bookblogger #bookish #amreading #TTT #BookTwitter #booktwt #BookX #damppebbles

Hello bookish pals and welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to occasionally (that’s the keyword here, occasionally!) take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme. The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.

If you’ve been reading my Top Ten Tuesday posts for the last couple of weeks then you may be aware that I’ve only really managed to come up with two lists so far that fully meet the brief. They are: Covers/Titles with Things Found in Nature and Books on my Spring 2024 TBR. With Weird or Funny Things I’ve Googled Thanks to a Book I only managed to come up with a list of FIVE things and with Books I’m Worried I Might Not Love as Much the Second Time Around I decided to go with a completely different list (because I don’t tend to re-read books)!

So, what’s going to happen this week? Well, I’m going to change the topic slightly but for a good reason. This weeks topic is: Movies/TV Shows That Would Have Made Amazing Books (Submitted by Sabrina @ Notes From a Paper Plane Nomad).

Confession time! I don’t watch a lot of TV or many movies. I think the last movie I watched was with my children at the cinema and that was The Super Mario Bros. Movie (it was great!). I tend to spend my evenings reading rather than watching TV. Am I the only person to have never watched Game of Thrones? How about Call of Duty? Luther? If you don’t believe me then drop a few recent UK TV shows in the comments and I’ll let you know if I’ve seen them 😂. I’m not sure this topic is going to work for me as it stands. So I’m going to flip it around. My topic this week is: Books That Would Have Made Amazing Movies/TV Shows. But let’s face it, I still probably won’t watch them!

When I originally reviewed some of the books below I made a comment as part of my review that it would make a great movie or TV series, or it was one of those novels where you actually forget you’re reading a book! The rest of the list is made up of books I felt had a cinematic quality to them (but I’m probably the worst person to judge that!!).

1. The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff

2. Nobody But Us by Laure Van Rensburg

3. The Inheritance by Gabriel Bergmoser

4. Three Hours by Rosamund Lupton

5. Creature by Hunter Shea

6. The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor
(Everything written by Caz would make a brilliant movie!)

7. Final Girls by Riley Sager

8. We Begin at the End by Chris Whitaker
BEST BOOK EVER!!! Please read it 🖤

9. HEX by Thomas Olde Heuvelt

10. The Last Dance by Mark Billingham

Well that wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. Turns out that I rarely describe a book as being a prime candidate to be made into a movie or TV show. There are quite a few horror titles on the list so I’ve tried to balance that out with some crime-y/psychological suspense novels. And if you didn’t see it the first time, check out the cover of HEX again…

Have you read any of these books? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Are there any books on my list which have taken your fancy? Do you, like me, tend to read rather than watch TV or movies? Let me know in the comments.

So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!

  1. I don’t watch much TV or movies either. I have a friend that travels with me and she watches lots, so being as we were together in Florida for 6 weeks, we binge watched Lucifer and the first season of Lupin. but I haven’t watched any of those others you mentioned. I read The Chalk Man and We Begin at the End and agree, they would make a great movie or mini-series.

      • He is the devil come to earth. He is a playboy, owns a busy nightclub and falls in love with a police officer. He is then hired as a consultant and becomes her partner. It is really good, because he tells everyone he’s the devil, but no one believes him. I didn’t think I would like it, but I did.
